  Annunciation to the Shepherds
study from Victoria and Albert Museum

An angel announces to shepherds in fields near Bethlehem a great joy which will be for all people, there has been born for us a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. A multitude of the heavenly host appeared praising God and saying Glory to God in the Highest and on earth peace to men with whom He is pleased.

Notice the shepherd playing the bagpipes, the dog facing straight up, and the homespun clothing. One sheep is enthralled with the vision while the other displays humility. The round composition adds to the sense of dynamism, that even though our lives may at times seem mundane and at other times turbulent, Godís saving plan is always working and we must always be ready to bow before the Infinite Wisdom of God and accept the life He has given us. Is our life pleasing to God?
