  Miraculous Draft of Fishes

This painting depicts the first time the apostles saw the risen Jesus after his resurrection.

Not knowing what else to do once Jesus had been crucified and buried, they despondently returned to ther old lives of fishing. although they were experienced fishermen, they had caught nothing the whole morning.

A man appeared on the shore, and told them to cast their net to the right side of the boat instead. When they did they caught so many fish they almost swamped their boat. It was then that they recognized the man as Jesus, and they understood that miracles were occurring. Jesus tells them that from that point forward he will make them fishers of men, and teaches them what they will need to know to go to the ends of the earth spreading the gospel.

By ourselves we can only work from our own experience and power as apostles, which is not enough. When we rely on the power of Jesus we can be successful beyond imagining in bringing people into the salvation of the kingdom.
